We’ve just returned from a fabulous three day family break at Mark and Ruth’s cottage on Lake Windermere. The house itself is fantastic, with lots of character, well presented, comfortable, and perfectly equipped for a relaxing stay. The location close to the lake is superb, just a short stroll through the back garden where we were available to use our Kayak. The hot tub was a real highlight and perfect for relaxing in the evenings after a day out. Mark and Ruth were incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout, ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here.

“This place was amazing. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. The cottage is cute, cozy and comfortable and patch of adjoining woodland and lake front was magical. We were here for Christmas and our hosts Ruth and Mark had put up Christmas decorations which our boys loved. I greatly appreciated the extra care and detail that had gone into making it a special experience especially for our children. On Christmas Day we spent the entire day in the woods and by the lake but it is also really close to all the larger towns around the lake. I also thought the cottage is bigger than it looks in the pictures.”

“We booked this stay away for our ‘Girls weekend’ a year ago, wanting somewhere where we could batten down the hatches and not leave the site if the weather turned on us. I wanted a hot tub to just wallow in and really relax. Tower Wood Cottage ticked every box. Quirky decor but very homely and there was plenty of space for the four adults. The garden/meadow/wood area that took you down to the edge of Windermere was so peaceful and serene, it was beautiful.”

“Staying here for our honeymoon was like stepping into a fairytale. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in the warmest hospitality, the kind that makes you feel not just welcomed, but cherished. The lakeside cottage was beautifully presented – every detail felt intentional, thoughtful, and deeply comforting. Our bed was so wonderfully comfortable. Everything gleamed with perfect cleanliness, yet the cottage still held that cozy, lived-in charm that makes you never want to leave. We fell in love with the little tuckshop (truly the cutest surprise), and the complimentary goodies made us smile. Wandering through the apple trees felt magical, as if we had our own secret orchard. And the yoga tent – what a gift! A place to breathe, stretch, and soak in the beauty of Windermere’s golden light. This wasn’t just accommodation; it was an experience woven with kindness, beauty, and serenity. It was the perfect beginning to our married life.”

“Hands down one of the best places we have ever stayed! Mark and Ruth’s cottage is beautifully situated right on the shores of lake Windermere, with an amazing walk through forest to get there from the house. The cottage is picturesque with simple touches of history and family charm. We loved every second of our short stay here and would happily do it again. The best parts were by far mark and Ruth themselves who are the loveliest of people. Ruth leaving little toys for our son to play with, and make sure you check out her amazing marble run in the forest. And their homemade damson jam was to die for! Thanks again guys for the best stay, see you again soon x”
