FAQs

Here is a list of our most frequently asked questions(FAQs):

Is it safe to swim in lake Windermere?

Yes, we swim most days but we would advise you not to drink the lake water. We know that sadly the lake has been in the news for the wrong reasons, so keep an eye on latest developments. http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/visiting/thingstodo/water/swimming

Do you offer any cooked food?

Unfortunately no but we do have an on site tuck shop.

Can I bring my dog/cat/elephant?

Sorry, but we can’t accommodate any pets.

Are there any animals on site?

Yes. You may see some Grouse, Pheasants, Rabbits, Ducks, Squirrels, Swans, perhaps a Peacock and if you’re lucky a couple of Roe Deers.

How far is it to the nearest pub?

Our favourite pubs “The Masons Arms” and “The Farmer’s Arms” are a 20 minute drive away.

Can I get food deliveries?

Yes. Most supermarkets will deliver to the cottage but there are no local take away deliveries.

What’s the weather like?

This is the best lake district weather site (bring clothes for all seasons!)

Do you offer any activities?

Yes absolutely. We have a wood fired barrel sauna and a large hot tub that is available on request. Facial massages for women are also available as well as art classes for adults and children. Please contact us for more info.

Are there any local shops?

Bowness is the nearest town (15 min drive) but you can walk to our friends over the road and up the hill at Park Cliffe camp site who have a small shop. Please see their opening hours online.
