FAQs

Here’s a list of our most Frequently Asked Questions:

Is it safe to swim in Lake Windermere.

We are aware of the recent publicity concerning all UK waterways but we have been encouraged by our local treatment plant that has invested in and improved the water quality. We would advise guests not to drink the water or swim if any blue-green algae is present. Have a look at these web sites for more detailed info:

Are there any animals on site?

Yes. You may see some Grouse, Pheasants, Rabbits, Ducks, Squirrels, Swans, an impressive variety of Bird species, occasionally a Peacock or Heron (we once saw an Otter) and if you’re lucky a couple of beautiful Roe Deers.
None of these animals should pose a threat but we would advise not to walk in long grass in case of Ticks which we cannot be held responsible for.

How far is it to the nearest pub?

Our favourite pubs is  “The Masons Arms“; a 25 minute drive away. There are plenty more pubs in Bowness/Windermere.

Can I get food deliveries?

Yes. Most supermarkets will deliver to the cottage but there are no local take away deliveries.

What’s the weather like?

Changeable. Bring clothes for all seasons

Do you offer any activities?

Yes absolutely. We have an outdoor wood fired barrel sauna and a large hot tub that is available on request. Facial massages for women are also available as well as art classes for adults and children. Please contact us for more info.

Are there any local shops?

Bowness is the nearest town (15 min drive) and has plenty to offer. There is also a small shop at Park Cliffe camp site just over the road and up the hill.

Do you offer any cooked food?

Unfortunately no, but we do have a small onsite tuck shop and we can make you the most fantastic coffee on request.

Can I bring my pet, hold an event/party on site or go fishing from the lake?

Sorry, but we can’t accommodate any pets/events/parties and unfortunately we don’t allow fishing.
