FAQs

Here is a list of our most frequently asked questions:

Is it safe to swim in lake Windermere?

Yes, we swim most days but we would advise you not to drink the lake water. We know that sadly the lake is currently in the news for the wrong reasons, so keep an eye on latest developments.

Do you offer any cooked food?

Unfortunately no. But we do sell amazing home made ice cream.

Can I bring my pet Elephant who is very quiet, well behaved and does not moult?

Sorry, but we can’t accommodate any pets.

Are there any animals on site?

Yes. You will see some Grouse, Rabbits, Ducks, Squirrels, occasional Swans, perhaps a Peacock and if you’re lucky a couple of Deers.

How far is it to the nearest pub?

Our favourite pub “The Masons Arms” is a 20 minute drive or a beautiful 1 hour walk away over the hills.

Can I get food deliveries?

Yes. Most supermarkets deliver in the area but sadly there are no take away deliveries yet. We also make our own ice cream available in the freezer!

What’s the weather like?

Bring clothes for all seasons!

Do you offer any activities?

Yes absolutely. We have a wood fired barrel sauna and a large hot tub that is available on request. Facial massages for women are available as well as art classes for adults and children. Please contact us for more info.

Are there any local shops?

Bowness is the nearest town (15 min drive) but you can walk to our friends over the road and up the hill at Park Cliffe camp site who have a small shop for all your basics.
